“Moving to the cloud provides clarity for most CISOs,” argued Steve Hunt (@steve_hunt), performance improvement coach, Hunt Business Intelligence, in our conversation at the 2016 RSA Conference in San Francisco.

While so many business and security professionals are wary about consciously moving elements of their business to the cloud, Hunt believes a move to the cloud will greatly simplify business and IT.

“Think of life in IT for most organizations. It suffers from improvisational shoot from the hip management based on this large range of skills or biases of IT leaders that doesn’t make for an efficient environment in which to do security management. By moving more and more infrastructure to the cloud it takes away some of the common strife between security and IT. Because the cloud is a more structure environment already,” said Hunt. “I think the cloud is more controllable. It’s less prone to personality and more reliant on the structure of the cloud service providers and the structure of the third party vendors.”

Hunt’s philosophy is one of the tenants of his ManageHub Security Success model.

Breathe, said Hunt, “A CISO who uses the cloud more can relax.”
